The School of Education will open the Student Center Ballroom doors Thursday, February 11 from 5-7 for a high-charged event showcasing the use of technology in education, learning, innovation and teaching.

Have you ever wondered how technology fits into classrooms, learning, assessment or community building? Over 20 presenters will present new ways that they are using technology to engage students and their communities.

Get creative with high tech and low tech creating in the Makerspace. Hang out with some great company while supporting our local educational technology innovators! Sonoma State undergraduate and graduate students like you will be displaying their innovative uses of technology all night. Tech savvy-techies we will have mini-presentations from people just like you! How can technology change the way adult learners of English view themselves in their future careers? How can a class go from Face-to-Face to fully online at Sonoma State and ensure learners have the tools to succeed? What is a Learning Story and how can that help children in a pre-school setting? What about Special Education or Math? Come find out! There will be stands with mini-presentations to answer these questions and much more! Themes include K-12 education and assessment, adult learners, communities, early care and education settings.

Feeling Tech-Tepid? 

For the tech-tepid come find out why on Google-earth would anyone use technology if they do not have to? Is newer really better? Get your questions answered about how technology is being used in classroom, schools, and communities in our area and see for yourself if technology can really enhance experiences.

Faculty too! 

Are you a current or former faculty member at Sonoma State? This technology showcase is for you! In addition to the student-driven technology presentations, we will be showcasing faculty’s creative use of technology at Sonoma State including meeting and beating the challenges to putting a course online. We are also hosting short (T)Edtalks all evening in the adjoining area. Find out what faculty are doing now with technology at Sonoma State!

Are you and administrator or community member? You have a place in this showcase too! Come see what technology solutions are being piloted in your school district, meet current students in the School of Education who are innovating and creating to improve experiences for children, and give us your thoughts about how technology could help your local community, all while enjoying great food and door prizes.  How might you help support this work in your schools?  How are you already doing it?  We'd love to hear from you too!
